Beth Csukas works as a firefighter in Indiana. In 2016, while on her way to visit her sister, Beth’s car slipped on an icy road and she crashed into another vehicle. The violent collision gave her a traumatic brain injury. The badly shaken woman was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.
Despite all the best efforts of the doctors, they said that Beth may never fully recover from the damage. She survived the accident, but she will always experience long-lasting effects.
Beth, though, didn’t let it get in the way of living the best life that she could have.
Sadly though, she went through the traumatic experience again, but this time, it was her dog, Zoey, that was the victim.
Zoey got hit
The accident happened when Beth, with the help of her mom, was taking out some old furniture. They didn’t notice that Zoey was able to come out. The active little pooch quickly ran away and unfortunately, chose to run on a busy highway.
As expected, she got hit by a car.
Despite her injuries, the dog kept on running. She then went straight to the woods nearby.
One man saw what happened and decided to follow her. When he found Zoey, the dog was bloodied, and she was shivering in fright. He wrapped the dog in his shirt and went back to see if he could find her owner.
Someone recognized the little pooch and sent the kind man to Beth. Shocked, the distraught owner immediately brought the injured pup to a vet.
Possible brain injury
The vets didn’t find any broken bones, but they suspected that she might have a brain injury. This is because they saw that she had different-sized pupils. They bandaged her wounds and told Beth to keep an eye on Zoey for any other possible signs that she may have damage to her brain.
Thankfully, in the next few days, her pupils went back to normal, and she was back to her happy and active ways.
