Everyone suffered from the COVID-19 virus that hit the world around March this year, and every country went through lockdowns. Elders and babies are the most vulnerable in this situation, and everyone was requested to stay at home and practice social distancing. But the coronavirus did not stop everyone from helping each other out amidst the pandemic.
One living proof is the two angels from Colorado, Karen Eveleth and her dog, Sunny. Karen has had an elderly neighbor for over a decade and was well aware of her neighbor’s health condition. The neighbor, Renee Hellman, has health issues, given her age and reliance on oxygen. Due to her condition, she cannot risk going outside of her house to buy her basic needs, so she opts to stay in the safety of her home instead.
Karen could not bear letting Renee strive on her own and found a way of helping her without compromising their health to the risk of getting the virus. Sunny would go to Renee to gather her grocery list and would bring the list to Karen. The two of them would then get Renee’s needs, and when they got back home, Sunny would deliver the plastic grocery bags to Renee.
Not only did Sunny help Renee with her groceries daily, but he also visited her to check on her and improve her isolation days. This simple act of kindness warms Renee’s heart, and there is no doubt Sunny has successfully brightened the older woman’s day with every help and visit he makes.
Karen was so pleased with the help her dog had given. For her, there’s nothing more achieving than helping someone in need because small deeds still count at a time like this.
Sunny is truly a ray of sunshine!
