A few weeks ago, Lauren Lynde and her husband took their golden retriever Wally on an outdoor trip in Hickory Hills Lake to have some fun. Wally swam in the lake and enjoyed the cool water. He even has a cute little shark life vest that makes him look really adorable.
Something strange happened while he swam in that lake, however.
A woodchuck suddenly jumped onto Wally’s back as he swam towards the shore.
Wally rescues the woodchuck
Strangely enough, Wally didn’t seem to care about the woodchuck. He just looked over his shoulder, saw the woodchuck, and then continued to swim to the shore. Lauren later told reporters that she didn’t know why the woodchuck did such a strange thing.
Fortunately for the woodchuck, Wally is a very kindhearted dog. He loves making new friends and he enjoys meeting new animals. He’s a sweet dog, so Wally just swam to the shore and carried the woodchuck all the way. Apparently, the woodchuck appreciated the favor. When they reached the shore, it hopped off Wally’s back and then touched its snout to the dog as a form of thanks.
Wally and his family
Lauren is very proud of her kind and cute golden retriever. She told reporters that he’s the sweetest dog in the world because he loves playing with small children and other animals. Wally also loves swimming a lot and he sometimes spends a lot of time swimming around in circles all by himself. That’s probably why he just went right back to swimming after he said goodbye to the woodchuck.
Woodchucks are shy animals, but this particular woodchuck probably noticed something different about Wally. The woodchuck probably sensed Wally’s kindhearted nature. Lauren speculates that perhaps her dog just exudes so much goodness that everyone, including animals, can sense it.
