Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge is a last resort for animals who have nowhere to go. One of those was a big German Shepherd named Sadie.
Sadie didn’t like men and that was the reason why other shelters refused to take her in. However, that was also the reason why Brian Myers decided to take Sadie under his wing.
Brian lived alone in his house. He thought that it would be an achievement to help Sadie deal with her issues. Little did Brian know, his effort to give Sadie a second chance at life would be the reason why he is given a second chance to live himself.
It was one fateful day when Brian would figure it out. He got out of bed that morning, but he immediately knew something was not right. As Brian stood beside his bed, his body went limp and he fell to the floor. He suffered a stroke.
With no one else in the house, all Brian could call on was his rescue dog, Sadie. Sensing that something was wrong, Sadie rushed to Brian’s side. Brian held on to Sadie’s collar as she pulled him with all her might towards his phone. It was a miracle. Had Sadie not been there, Brian would not have had the strength to grab his phone from the table.
Brian was rushed to the hospital and was thankfully saved from grave danger. When he was finally discharged from the hospital, a special visitor was there to greet him — Sadie.
The bond between the two is a strong one. Brian thanks his faithful companion and tells her “I love you.” Sadie didn’t even need words to tell Brian that she loves him too as she showered him with slobbery kisses.
