The wrath that Hurricane Dorian brought made it one of the powerful hurricanes to hit land. It is a category 5 hurricane and brought a lot of destruction. It first wrecked havoc on the Bahamas and made its way to Georgia and then to South Carolina and North Carolina and other states. Properties destroyed in the USA were estimated to be worth billions of dollars.
In Florida, police officers and emergency services personnel were on alert because of Hurricane Dorian. It was Deputy Josh Tolliver’s time to be on patrol for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department when the hurricane hit. While patrolling, he saw a vehicle that fell into a ditch.
Josh thought it was suspicious, so he investigated. The car was abandoned, and floodwater also had gotten inside the vehicle. He assumed the driver lost control of the vehicle that’s why it was in the ditch.
Upon closer look, Josh saw that there was a puppy inside the car. It was all alone, and it was wet and frightened. Josh knew that he had to do something. So he opened the window to take the puppy to safety.
When Josh had the puppy in his patrol car, it was shivering. He took a blanket he had and wrapped it around the dog. He named the puppy Dorian. He couldn’t bring it to the Orange County Animal Services that day, but he decided to bring it there after the storm.
The Sheriff’s Department took a photo of Josh holding Dorian and posted this on their account on social media. Soon, the post had gone viral, and people were asking about the dog. There were a lot who wanted to know how they could adopt the dog and give it a good home.
Josh had a secret though. He really didn’t take the puppy to animal services. He had already fallen in love with its cuteness, and he decided that he would adopt her.
