Victoria Marshall, a 38-year-old charity worker from Berkshire, first met the senior dog named Penny after she arrived at the non-profit organization South East Dog Rescue in Kent. She took the dog in and fostered it for five-and-half months, giving her all the love and care that she deserved. The pair formed an instant connection so when it was time for them to part ways, Victoria definitely felt heartbroken.
And so she took to write a heartfelt farewell letter for Penny whom she lovingly calls her foster daughter.
Writing the letter, Victoria expressed how she couldn’t stop crying and that she could barely see what she was writing. She absolutely adored Penny for her kind and gentle soul, her heart that pours out so much love, and her understated cheekiness. She had been with her for months and it was time for Penny to leave her and go to her forever home.
It was heartbreaking for her but Victoria knew that Penny would be opening a new and better chapter in her life. And in that chapter, Penny would be her new family’s world, and she will be filled with so much love. She would get to take on so many adventures and more importantly, she would never be neglected. Victoria also promised Penny that her older years would be the best years of her life.
Victoria also reminisced about Penny’s antics in her letter, how she was obsessed with walking into any house they pass by and dragging her into the local pet store every time. She also praised Penny and her amazingly gentle soul and how she will be treasured by the two little grandchildren waiting for her in her new home.
But the thing that Victoria was most grateful for Penny was that she gave her strength after her beloved late rescue dog died. And Penny reminded her that rescuing is a never-ending legacy.
