Kids these days are usually glued to their gadgets and busy with their games and other personal stuff. But few kids show genuine interest in what’s going on around them. Some of them have the initiative to take action. One of them is Pavel Abramov.
Pavel is a young artist from Arzamas City in Russia. He is a talented 9-year-old boy who also has a heart for shelter animals. After losing his dog, Barsik, Pavel realized that he wants to help shelter animals. That when he and his mother, Ekaterina Bolshakova, started their “Kind Paintbrush” project.
Pavel doesn’t come from a well-off family. They can’t afford to donate cash or supplied to animal shelters. But Pavel is rich in talent. He is a great painter. And he knows that he can use his talent to get people to donate to the animal shelter.
How does his “Kind Paintbrush” project work? In exchange for supplies and foods for shelter animals, Pavel paints portraits of people’s pets. He paints based on photos of the pets, but he also gets to know the pet and the owner while doing his painting. He likes to hear stories of how pets and their owners meet – especially rescue or adoption stories.
The Kind Paintbrush project is a hit in Arzamas City, and it has also reached many people in Russia. Pavel and his family have also received requests and pledges from other countries. Pavel’s paintings have also reached Spain, Germany, and other countries. Pavel’s mother manages social media accounts for the project. They hope to reach many more and help more animal shelters.
Pavel dreams of being an architect someday. He wants to help build a bigger and better place for Arzamas Animal Shelter. For now, he’ll continue with his Kind Paintbrush project and help the shelter in his little way.
