When one thinks of a dog that would be up for adoption at an animal shelter, a senior dog is probably not the first to come to mind. Puppies are generally more popular since they have a higher chance of being adopted. But this senior dog’s story will make you think twice about that.
This sweet senior Pit Bull is Hero. He was rescued from a life of abuse by an organization called Pit Crew Rescue in Sacramento, California. Hero was with them for eight months before his adoptive parents found him.
The couple wanted to adopt Hero immediately, but he had to pass a test. You see, his adoptive parents own a dog named Sugar Bear, and he had to win his trust.
To make the long story short, Hero and Sugar Bear met, and when the latter’s face lit up at the sight of a new friend, the deal was sealed. The couple quickly adopted Hero and brought him home.
At this time, Hero was already nine years old. That’s not an age in which dogs in animal shelters do well, so this pittie is so lucky to have been adopted.
Hero’s life changed dramatically after he was welcomed into his new home. He went from being a dog who was abused to one who was cherished and loved. He had furry friends too, and he was just so grateful to be with his parents.
Hero enjoyed snuggling and when he’s warm and comfy, he had a habit of smiling about it. His parents adored and doted on him, and everyone who met this pittie fell in love with him.
That’s how much Hero was loved, and he knew it to the day he passed. Hero’s time to rest came on May 6th of this year, but he will always be in his loved ones’ hearts.
We’re just happy you got to live a good life towards the end. Run free, doggo!
