The connection between a human and a dog is a bond that started over fifteen thousand years ago. Over forty-eight percent of the American household has a canine family member. For centuries, our dogs have offered loyalty and companionship to their owners, labeling them as man’s canine companions.
In Nairobi, Kenya, a stray dog managed to save the life of an abandoned newborn baby in a forest. The dog carried it across a busy highway and over some barbed wires. It was brought to her puppies, serving as a new family member.
A witness said that the heroic dog found the infant in tattered clothing in a poverty-stricken neighborhood near Ngong Forests in the capital of Nairobi. Aggrey Mwalimu stated that the dog discovered the baby on the 6th of May.
Aggrey Mwalimu, the owner of the place where the dog kept her puppies, heard a baby cry and saw the dog care for the seven-pound infant. He immediately took the baby to a hospital to have some treatments the following day. The baby survives the disaster, giving her a second chance in life.
Hanna Gakuo, Kenyatta National Hospital spokeswoman, said that the dog was fine, responded positively to the treatment, and steadily recovered. She also took some antibiotics to help her further. The hospital health workers now call the infant Angel.
If it weren’t for the dog’s act of kindness and loyalty, we could have lost Angel, who was left by her mother in the wild. We hope more dogs save lives and no more mothers abandon their children due to poverty. The parents did not claim Angel yet, but we hope they do.
We wanted to thank the dog for her heroism in saving Angel. People with kind hearts donated clothes and diapers for Angel at the moment. We hope that this kind of abandonment will soon end.
