It’s common to see terrified dogs inside an animal shelter. These dogs would often sit in a corner and sulk than interact with people. They are unsure of their surroundings, so they can only try to protect themselves and hide.
An actress and dog rescuer named Shira Scott Astroff met a dog who fits the description above. When she tried to take the dog out for a walk, it protested. This dog would much rather go back to her kennel than walk with people.
Shira met with a man named Darvish and asked him to be the dog’s foster parent. He agreed, and they eventually took the dog to his home. However, coaxing the dog to get in his car proved difficult. Even when the dog was already in the car, it was very nervous.
When the dog arrived at Darvish’s home, it was allowed to roam around for a while. Eventually, it found a corner in Darvish’s bedroom, where it stayed for a while. Darvish allowed this to happen and used it as an opportunity to get closer to the dog.
Darvish moved his bed closer to the dog’s area. He started feeding it there and giving it affection. Eventually, the dog became comfortable enough to eat out of Darvish’s hands.
In just a few days, the dog became very attached to Darvish. It followed him around and always placed its head on his lap or shoulders. When Shira visited Darvish and saw this, she had a feeling he would end up adopting the dog.
The dog still has no name and is sometimes still hesitant. Even so, the progress made in only a few weeks is stellar. Darvish truly knows how to foster and care for dogs with issues. Furthermore, he’s open to the idea of adopting the dog for good.
