In the big city of Meridian, Idaho, it’s not necessary to be completely human if you want to be a hero.
If you don’t know what we’re talking about, ask Meridian’s distinguished elderly hero, Jaxon, the dog. He has received the city’s “Hometown Hero Award”, which can be achieved by not only two-legged humans but can also be achieved by four-legged fur babies, in late 2016. The reason why he won this award is that he did a heroic deed. And that heroic deed was saving his owners from an electrical fire.
One day, when an electrical outlet started to emit sparks suddenly, Jaxon’s owners, Mikaela Sebree and Todd Lavoie were too busy with something else not to notice the sparks. Fortunately, the couple’s 11-year-old pug alerted them and warned them about the outlet.
According to what Mikaela Sebree told CNN affiliate KBOI, she said that dogs have two different types of barks. One of them would be where there’s somebody at the door and when there’s something wrong going on.
Jaxon used that particular bark to alert Lavoie to his aid so that he could know that something was wrong. Thanks to Jaxon’s quick actions, Lavoie was able to rush to the outlet and managed to knock down the electrical fire with a fire extinguisher.
Then, as soon as the flames were extinguished, the Meridian Fire Department arrived at the couple’s aid.
Thanks to Jaxon’s actions, he prevented a large fire that would’ve gone up into the attic and caused quite a lot of damage.
Not only did Jaxon become the city’s first animal ever to receive the “Hometown Hero Award”, but also receiving an official probationary firefighter’s badge from the Meridian Fire Department, earning Jaxon bragging rights against firehouse dalmatians nationwide.
Because Jaxon loved his owners so much, he deserved that award.
