Animal rescue organizations in Tampa, Florida have a fair amount of dog rescue experience. One of the most memorable ones is that of Larry, a pitiful Pitbull who was given a second chance at happiness. His story really touched the hearts of many and motivated a great number of individuals to treat animals better!
One scorching afternoon in Tampa, Florida, rescuers got a report of a dog chained to a basketball hoop. According to concerned citizens, the dog has been there for days. The volunteers replied swiftly and traveled to the location to meet the dog. They discovered the terrified man trembling in fear. The dog wailed as the rescuers arrived, appearing puzzled. One of the volunteers hypothesized that the dog’s emotional response was because he expected to see his owner and not these strangers.
The volunteers selected the name Larry Bird for the Pitbull. They returned him to the shelter and attempted to contact the owner of the stray dog. Larry lacks both a collar and a microchip, making it difficult to identify his owner. After several days, no one came to claim the lonely puppy.
The volunteers determined to coordinate Larry’s adoption. Families routinely visit the Hillsborough County Animal Shelter to adopt rescued animals, where he was moved. The melancholic disposition of Larry made it difficult for him to attract the attention of guests. On most days, he would frequently nap and hide under his bed.
Autumn Phillips Perry, one of the shelter employees, posted their hunt for Larry’s new family on Facebook. Autumn’s caption for her now-viral post characterized Larry as a lovely Pitbull that dislikes loud noises. She uploaded it alongside an image of Larry in his isolation kennel.
The Hillsborough County Animal Shelter received numerous adoption applications for the PitBull as a result of Autumn’s Facebook post! Volunteers ultimately identified Larry’s ideal adoptive family after screening all applicants! Now, the previously depressed Pit Bull has every reason to look forward to sleeping on a new bed in a new loving home.
