Dogs are an important part of the family, especially for dog lovers. Therefore, it is always uplifting to hear about pets being reunited with their families after becoming lost or going missing.
This story is about a family living in North Carolina and their pet dog. The reunion of the family and their pet happened five years after the dog, Zoey, disappeared for reasons that remain unexplained to this day.
Although the family was not identified, the Guilford County Animal Shelter shared the wonderful news with their Facebook followers. According to the article, the family was overjoyed to learn that their puppy had mysteriously appeared at the dog shelter.
Given the length of time they had been separated, it came as a surprise to the family. They had known for years that they would no longer see Zoey. But destiny had other intentions.
The reunion was made possible by the dog shelter volunteers who did everything necessary to locate Zoey’s owners. According to the Facebook post, Zoey had a microchip when she arrived at the shelter.
With the microchip, the volunteers started their job of seeking potential leads on Zoey’s origin. Throughout this phase, everyone worked diligently. Once they determined who Zoey’s owners were, they promptly contacted them by telephone.
On the other hand, the family was ignorant and did not anticipate receiving such fantastic news. The volunteers then communicated that Zoey was in their care. They described the puppy as active and very sweet.
When they learned about Zoey’s situation, the family quickly traveled to the dog shelter to verify if it was their puppy. According to their Facebook post, the family positively identified the dog as Zoey.
Volunteers were much appreciated for making the reunion possible. In exchange, the dog shelter publicized Zoey’s tale to warn their followers that microchips are required for their pets.
