Opal, a Basset Hound, is both courageous and mischievous. She also frequently gets into trouble since she is also a very curious dog that enjoys exploring. Despite her family’s attempts to put her in place, she has learned how to get away with just about anything.
Opal’s family loves eating oats, most especially the one from the Quaker Oats brand. In fact, it has already become a breakfast staple. However, the dog does not like the brand’s mascot to be appealing. She would bark at the mascot with the fancy hat and white hair whenever she saw it because she found the photograph unsettling.
Her mother found her antics amusing and entertaining at first. However, she realized she was worried when Opal began freaking out when he saw the photo of the Quaker Oats man.
Even though her fur mother did not intend to frighten her, it appeared that Opal had a continuing battle with the Quaker Oats guy, so the family decided to hide the oats container in the cabinet. When the Quaker Oats man was no longer in view, Opal shifted her focus to dish towels and began snatching them. Her family was not amused by her actions, so they gave the Quaker Oats man another opportunity to intervene – and he defeated Opal for a second time.
Every time Opal attempted to steal from the kitchen, her family just placed the Quaker Oats man in front of her so she would sit still. Opal avoided the Quaker Oats at all costs by walking around it. There were occasions when she barked at it. Sadly, she had never defeated the Quaker Oats man in combat.
As the Quaker Oats man continued to preserve his fur mom’s dishtowel, she became extremely angrier. Even her mother would taunt her about how the Quaker Oats man would come and get her.
